Voices of change

Homework was assigned - pick one person, a voice of change, and prepare a three minute summary of them and what they’ve done. Ok, I love this assignment. But like most things in my life, I never do exactly what I’m told to do. This can be problematic and also great, depending on the situation. In this instance, the assignment got my creative juices flowing so I think it was a good thing.

Voices of Change

Voice of Change

Picture: I wrote the names of my Sheroes/Heroes in different colors and in the shape of a person using their voice. Their names: Sally (Bergesen), Alison (Desir), Lauren (Fleshman), Maya (Angelou), Pink!, Mirna (Valerio), JVN (Johnathan Van Ness), Seane (Corn), Allyson (Felix), and Suzanne. Check out these people if you don’t know their story already.

In a spiral I wrote: They stand up and speak up. Truth tellers for women. For all bodies are beautiful. For healing. For being you. For it's ok to run. To birth. To eat. To love. To love a woman or a man or both. To fit in and not fit in at all at the same time. To push. To pull. To stretch. To breathe. To ascend mountains beyond your own horizon. To trek through the mud and not come out clean but changed, To be out of step only to find that others step with you. Never alone. Always a voice.
